First Party Leaders’ TV Debate: Domestic Affairs: Thursday 15 April 2010 - 8.30pm to 10.00pm
ITV will host the first of three televised debates between the leaders of Britain's three main political parties: David Cameron, Gordon Brown and Nick Clegg. The debate will be chaired by Alistair Stewart, with questions from viewers. The theme for the first debate will be domestic affairs. www.itv.com

Deadline to register to vote in the General Election: Tuesday 20 April 2010 - 12.00pm
In order to vote in the General Election, you must be registered. If you are not or are unsure of whether you are currently registered to vote, you can register at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk Applications to register to vote at the General Election must be received no later than Tuesday 20 April.

Deadline to apply for a Postal Vote for the General Election: Tuesday 20 April 2010 - 5.00pm
All eligible electors can organise to vote by post rather than attend their allocated Polling Station. Applications to vote by post or to amend or cancel existing postal or proxy voting arrangements must be received by 5pm on Tuesday 20 April. You can apply for a postal vote by contacting the Electoral Services Office at North Devon Council either by phone on 01271 388277 or by emailingelections@northdevon.gov.uk

Public Meeting, Lynton : Friday 23 April 2010 – 6.15pm to 7.00pm
Philip will be hosting a public meeting at Lynton Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to allow local residents and businesses to come and meet Philip and for them to put any questions they may have to him. All welcome.

‘Get on Board’ Campaign Meeting : Saturday 24 April 2010 – 9.00am
Philip will be attending a meeting to show his support for the UK Youth Parliament’s 'Get on Board' campaign which aims to reduce travel fares for 16-18 year olds in Devon so that they are in line with child fares. Deadline to apply for a Proxy Vote for the General Election: Tuesday 27 April 2010 - 5.00pm
If you are unable to vote at your Polling Station on Thursday 6 May, you may appoint a proxy (someone else to vote on your behalf). That person will be given your ballot paper at your Polling Station. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Tuesday 27 April. You can download a form to apply for a proxy vote at http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/register_to_vote/apply_to_vote_by_proxy/proxy_vote_application.aspx which will then need to be returned to the address generated on the form.

The debate will be chaired by David Dimbleby, with questions from viewers The theme for this final debate will be the Economy. www.bbc.co.uk

General Election Polling Day: Thursday 6 May 2010 - 7.00am to 10.00pm
Polls are open from 7am-10pm. You do not need your polling card to vote. If you have a postal vote and have yet to return it, you can hand it in to any polling station in your constituency. If you want Change for our Country and North Devon today, please support Philip and the Conservative today. www.conservatives.com

Wednesday 14 April: Philip enjoys a Coffee Morning in Arlington before hosting Conservative MP's visit to Lynton & Lynmouth
Philip and his team were pleased to attend a Coffee Morning hosted by Peter and Pat Bunch at Arlington. This was a good opportunity for Philip to meet with people from the area and to share with them his hopes as candidate. From there, they moved on to Parracombe where they met a number of residents before enjoying lunch at the Fox and Goose. They then moved onto Lynton where, following a short canvassing session, Philip was delighted to host a visit from the Shadow Minister for Europe, Mark Francois MP. Philip was pleased to show Mr Francois MP the Top Station of the Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway and the award winning “Cliff Top Cafaurant” before moving down to Lynmouth. The day ended with a Public Meeting at Berrynarbor Village Hall where local residents had the opportunity to meet with and question Philip on all aspects of the election. This was an interesting event where many worthwhile questions were asked and useful discussion ensued.

Tuesday 13 April: Philip and his team's visits include Guineaford, Marwood and Ashford.
Philip and his team started the day with a walk through Barnstaple Pannier Market where Philip met with both stallholders and local people. From there, visits were made to Guineaford, Marwood and Ashford. Following a short stop for refreshments at Trelawney Garden Centre at Ashford, they then visited SF Ltd at Pottington. This was a profitable visit where Sami Calgar of SF Ltd and Clive Turner of EEF (the "manufacturers’ organisation, helping thousands of companies to evolve and compete in a fast-changing world") made a presentation on the need for more focus on manufacturing. They explained that British Manufacturing has come through the recession leaner and better but now needs a Government that will follow through on this and create a climate where they can go forward. Philip was able to share with them about what he would like to see happening to industry in North Devon under a Conservative Government.

Monday 12 April: Philip and his team visit J&S Limited at Pottington before heading out into the country.
Philip and his team made a very worthwhile visit to J&S Limited at Pottington. They were warmly welcomed by the management team and enjoyed a lunch in the boardroom where management gave a presentation of the Company's concerns and Philip was able to answer their questions. They were then taken on a tour of the factory and had opportunity to meet a number of staff who raised their personal concerns and what Philip could do for them if elected. They then travelled to Stoke Rivers, East Buckland, West Buckland and Filleigh to meet local residents. A long but rewarding day.

Saturday 10 April: Philip and his team visit Barnstaple and Braunton promoting the “NHyeS” Campaign.
A profitable day was spent in Barnstaple and Braunton promoting the “NHyeS” Campaign. Philip and his team spent the morning in Barnstaple centre before moving onto Braunton and having lunch at “Squire’s”. At Braunton, Philip had his blood pressure tested at a special event being run by Braunton Rotary Club. They then returned to Barnstaple to call in at the Sports Tours’ Junior Festival at the Rugby Club. Note from Philip: “In demonstrating our commitment to the NHS by kick-starting our General Election campaign with a national campaign on healthcare, David Cameron is demonstrating what I hope has become clear during my own stance on local health facilities; that if you join us real change can take place not just in Westminster, but in North Devon.”

Friday 9 April: Philip and his team visit Barnstaple and Braunton.
Most of the day was spent in and around Barnstaple where Philip met with a good number of local people. Lunch was taken at the local Conservative Club with the opportunity to meet members before moving onto Braunton.

Thursday 8 April: Philip and his team visit South Molton.
They started in and around Cattle Market at South Molton before moving on to the Pannier Market. After lunch at the George Hotel, they then went around several shops and offices before moving onto South Molton Recycle where they met with staff.

Wednesday 7 April: After a successful Business League Business Breakfast at Trimstone to launch Philip’s Election Campaign, he and his team went onto visit Ilfracombe and Combe Martin.
Philip took a walk through Ilfracombe’s High Street followed by a visit to "Open Doors", an outreach undertaken by the local Baptist Church where Philip met with helpers and regulars. The team then visited the Slade and Hele Bay areas of Ilfracombe and undertook a short canvass meeting with residents in Beach Road. They then went on to Combe Martin for lunch followed by a walk through the main street.

Tuesday 6 April : Upon receiving confirmation that the General Election was called, Philip and his team assembled in Barnstaple Centre.
We were enthusiastically received by many well-wishers in Barnstaple. Philip later attended Barnstaple Poverty Action Group AGM at the Castle Centre in Barnstaple.

21-Apr-07	Starting at 9.30 am, the finals for 18 fantastic young musicians looking to win the prizes for the “Two Moors’ Festival” Young Musicians’ Platform. I was treated to some phenomenal talent and was able to witness the replacement Steinway in operation following the globally reported accident with the Bosendorfer! I returned home late in the afternoon and in time to visit Ilfracombe and help “Cat Tails” the Cat Protection charity to find a new home for all of its donated second-hand furniture to sell. Special rental terms arranged for this charity!

A very well attended meeting and attended by Nick Harvey MP and at which I made two suggestions, one being that the consumer would pay the additional necessary 5/6p for a litre of milk at the shops to ensure that farmers receive what they need to cover their costs and also potentially the development opportunity of “fair milk” similar to “fair trade” where the option would be presented to consumers to pay a fair price for their milk. The long term implications could be that as more milk producers leave the market there might not be enough milk to go around and then the only thing that happens is that prices rise.
